Projecto de Espeleologa de Tulum (PET)
PET is a Mexican underwater exploration project that is focused in the Tulum area in Q.Roo/Mexico
PET, Projecto de Espeleologa de Tulum, is exploring and documenting the caves near the Tulum area in Mexico Mayan Reviera. In particular we're interested in the North-West side of the Ejido Jacinto Pat past the well known caves of Nohoch Nah Chich and Dos Ojos.
The team has explored 3 main cave: Aktun-Hu, Outland and Fenomeno.
Several photos (see below) and videos documentation dives had being conducted to document the team's findings.
The team is composed of Mexican and American cave divers that are members of BAUE and GUE.
Aktun-Hu
Aktun-Hu Cave system is located in the Ejipo Jacinto Pat area and it contains underwater tunnels that penetrates several private properties in the area. Aktun-Hu Cave system starts 8km from the 307 Mexican Highway. The main entrance is inside the Rancho Tamakas at the Aktun-hu proper cavern, and it extends all the way to Rancho San Felipe and other private properties in the area. Aktun-Hu is over 100 K feet long and it reaches a maximun depth of 197ft, and it is fully decorated with speolothems.
