Awesome day of scooter diving.

Arriving at the Point Lobos parking lot seemed like a BAUE conference! Clinton was busy organizing the Nudi Project of Middle Reef.

Gary Banta was there with hus son. He had has scooters there but wasn't diving them so he offered one to me to tow along as an extra, which I did. This allowed us to modify our dive plan. Since Paul had his 26 AH scooter and I was towing a backup, we decided to get out past Granite Point Pinnacles and get out to Thumbs Up!

Our plan was to stay above 100' and travel along that depth to Thumbs Up. Leaving the North edge of Middle Reef, Paul went North and we were traveling across a good amount of sand. I kind of wanted to go a bit more east to hit the pinnacles faster and follow the pinnacles out to 100 feet and then East to Thumbs Up. But alas, he was No. 1 and I'll just follow! We got there and turned around. It's a pretty steep straight up wall!

Coming back, Paul's trigger wire malfunctioned and he had to manually ride the magnet. He finally got tired of it so I gave him Gary's scooter which I was towing and off we went again. I was free and no longer towing another scooter and was able to manuver easily in and out of crevices! Coming back we were at the West side of Middle Reef and got Paul to agree to go over the top of it and come in on the East side. It's so much more interesting! Somewhere along the way we switched to O2 at 20 feet and came in on that!

Man, I can get used to this scooter diving! I'm hopelessly addicted! ;-)

Thanks Paul for taking me out to Thumbs Up!
